Isn't Romans 6:7 the verse that they use to support the idear that when a person dies they are acquitted of their sins and so are ressurected?
Seems a little out of context.

romans 5:20 "now the law"..."by works of law no flesh will be declared righteous before him, for by law is the accurate knowledge of sin..." romans 3:20
romans 6:1,7,11,13,14 "shall we continue in sin"..."for he who has died has been acquited from [his] sin...likewise also you: reckon yourselves to be dead...but present yourselves to god as those alive from the dead...you are not under law..."
interesting how the scriptures are written with many things and in such a way as to sugjest ones may not be in the proper legal condition to 'present yourselves alive from the dead' where paul urged, 'reckon yourselves to be dead'.

(below continues an idea started in another post).
just consider the difference in meaning between these two renderings.
1.all scripture is inspired by god and useful for teaching, reproving and setting things straight.
Great post and wow, awesome thoughts you guys.
When it comes to the whole All scripture is inspired of God.....
Ok, here's my response to anyone who would throw that at me.
"Yeah, but do you realize that when Paul wrote those words to Timothy, he was NOT referring to the body of work that was going to make up the Greek Scriptures/New Testament?
He was referring to the Hebrew scriptures. He was NOT referring to his own letter to the various congregations. He was NOT referring to the writings of Matt, Mark, Luke and John. He was NOT referring to any of that. The New Testament as a collection did not come until later. After the first century, the Christians pretty much felt they had their collection of writings and if anyone else came around with anything else they did not like, they left it out.
Now, who's to say that all the REAL inspired works (if there were any) weren't left out by people that were too afraid to accept something they were unfamiliar with?
So, I agree with you guys on So many levels. I just think that if a person uses that line, they should be reminded what Paul was referring to in the first place.

okay, here's the deal...... .
i was in the shower and had an odd experience.
(no jokes).
Hm....
Fairies? I think that's totally cool Preston. I heard from someone else the term willowisps. They are the spirits of very young children who died so young.
Fmz, interesting point. Considering, I'm not an opthalmologist, I hadn't considered that.
Hm, maybe they'd like some candy. I could try to sneak it off the goody shelf when my kids aren't looking.

Cowboy Junkies, great Canadian band
Saw them about 4 years ago here in metro Detroit. Incredible band. Her voice is beautiful. Very acoustical.
Aimee Mann. She has been around in some way for years. I hope she continues on for years more. I liked her solo stuff on the Magnolia soundtrack.
The one I wanted to add. Happy Rhodes. I discovered her by accident at Borders about 8 years ago. Her voice is just so awesome. Another one I discovered recently that I really, really love: Nathan. They do a rendition of My Favorite Things that even my husband loved. I downloaded a bunch of their stuff off of Aol. And also.... Joni Mitchell. I know she isn't necessarily completely unknown, but mostly people tend to think of her in terms of her 60's woodstock stuff. Over the years she completely evolved and has become one of my favorite singers. Oh yeah, one more... Ginger.

Guys, thank you for the info. I truly appreciate it. Nice to know I'm not that crazy. (?)
With the business that my husband and I are starting, I am on the computer A lot! I kinda worried it might be something like that. So far, it's only happened once. I think I'll take that as a hint to give my eyes more of a rest. I haven't been to the op in quite a while. I know I need to get back and when I do I'll bring it up.
Yeah, I remember that part well. I just love when she actually cracks this smile and the entire camp kinda gasps. Hee hee. My husband wants to call me Wednesday on a fulltime basis.... don't know 'bout that.
Thanks again guys

I had an awesome experience (again, no jokes). I saw an awesome sprinkling of lights out of my right field of vision.
It was something where the very first thought that came to mind was like, fairy dust or dragonflies. These were like pinpoint lights. Bright and dancing. I closed my eyes and when I opened them, there was still a sprinkling there. I shook my head and then they were gone.
I brought this up to my husband a couple of hours later and he remarked that he has had similar experiences. He said the exact same thing, they're like dragonflies.
Has anyone else had this experience? Does anyone have any ideas what it might be?

October Project. Broken up now, toured with Sarah McLachlan in the 90's. Lead singer went off on her own.
Do Tegan and Sara sing that song "walking with a ghost"?

then he created woman...... so maybe i'm a little late on this topic but..... after looking into sooooooooo many different religions, it finally occurred to me that........ why would god create 2 of each kind to procreate, then create man by himself and then as afterthought, woman?
hm.
1 man - 1 woman = no life on earth.
think they say that in the original
Genesis story, the man and woman wre created at the same time "male and female he created them"... (Gen 1:27)
second Genesis story, that was added on after the Jewish exile, the need in their theology for woman to be inferior to men, led them to add the story where Eve was taken from Adam's rib... Eve then became an afterthought...
Yeah there was a jewish effort to explain that just as doryakii said. They used the two creation stories (chapt 1 P chpt 2 J) and say Adam's first wife Lillith, who was made form the same dust as Adam (the language suggests that like other creation stories the two were joined perhaps back to back at creation) , became bold and self willed so yahweh made the second one from his side to not repeat the mistake. The colorful Lillith legend (she has supernatural powers and eats babies) is a perfect example of goddess worship recaste as evil demonism.
Yeah, I do actually remember Lillith. She was independent (gasp!) Seems like Sarah McLachlan used that for her series of tours during the nineties. Lilith was banished from the garden. I’m curious as to whether or not that would be part of Kabbalah?
explained well by "Friedman Who Wrote The Bible" - minimum 4 writers of Genesis - added later
Have not heard of this…..Anymore info? otherwise I shall google it. J
both. we created god, and so he is dumb and violent.
Ask Uncle Remus or Aesop or Homer or..... well, you get the idea.
Ok, yeah, I do get the idea, which brings me to another question. The god that was created…..the one in question being Yahweh, what purpose did it serve? It seems to me, that it was to take women and make them subject to man.
That’s where Lilith becomes a very interesting figure. I was reading somewhere recently, that since the very story of Moses and the Red Sea has little, if nothing to back it up, much of what we read in the Hebrew scriptures is a condensed version of actual events. Turning a series of events into major ones. So, with Lilith, it seems to me that it fits quite well. Man saw that women were becoming independent, Lilith became the mythological figure representing the women of the time and so laws were created, laws that came from god, and women were brought into submission. Thus, to me anyway, a new woman, Eve, was born.
How many other cultures do we see this in?
When god created man and saw what she had done, she said "I can do better than this!"
I think we should turn that into a poster! Too funny!!:)
I'm just looking the various myths and legends and thought it was interesting to note that out of all the life that yahweh created according to the bible, he according to Genesis 2:18 created women later, as a helper to man. It just makes no sense.
And..... oh yeah, I can imagine poor Adam watching these chimps and what not swinging from the branches having themselves a jolly old time and he's scratching his skull thinkin' "What the h*** are they doin'?" :)
In terms of god doing what he wants with his creation....Hey that's fine, but creation wasn't going to get very far without the prescence of the female bod. Doncha think?
Did other cultures at the time have similar stories, or is that unique to the bible?

Question, how is this explained by Any christian religion? If god is perfect and makes no mistakes, why did women come into existance after man? If god could see that it took 1 male animal + 1 female animal to create life, why would he create a female human After the fact? Past humans, we have male/female vegitation!!
So, is god imperfect after all, or is this just another reason for me to conclude that the bible is nice story and nothing more?
